Functional hemispherectomy/hemispherotomy is a disconnective procedure that has undergone significant evolution. Today, when performed in high-volume epilepsy centers in appropriate patients, it is an effective procedure for the control of unilateral medically refractory epilepsy. Surgical modifications and improvements have resulted in excellent seizure outcomes with low operative morbidity and mortality ¹⁾.
