The International Neurotrauma Society (INTS) is a body of scientists who attempt parity between brain and spinal cord injury research while preserving, as best as possible, equality in geographic location, gender and basic science versus clinical emphasis.

The purpose of the INTS is to foster the worldwide dissemination of neurotrauma research and to supervise international neurotrauma symposia throughout the world. The intention continues to be to alternate the venue of the symposium meetings between Australasia,Europeand the Western Hemisphere every two or three years. To do so, the INTS authorizes a local host for each meeting and assists the local host’s organizing committee thorough the International Scientific Advisory Board of the INTS.

Since its inception in 1995, the INTS Symposia have gathered more and more enthusiasm for neurotrauma research and the INTS itself has grown and prospered as a society that organizes high level conferences. The local organizers, International Scientific Advisory Board and the Executive Committee have all gained experience in how to deliver the highest quality science in ways that are true to the mission of the Society. However, this experience and the manner with which the INTS has evolved has diverted somewhat from the original INTS Constitution. We now find that the INTS acts differently than when the constitution was originally developed and adopted in 1995. As you can tell from perusal of this enclosed Constitution, there are many specific items that no longer work in developing and providing a high quality International Neurotrauma Symposium. Therefore, below you will find a list of By-Laws that the Executive Committee has developed that serve as modifiers of our constitution. You will notice that the Bylaws differ mostly in the manner by which the Executive Committee is constituted. In order to provide continuity of expertise in organizing the symposia from year to year, the past, present and future local organizing committee chairs have newly designated roles on the Executive Committee. This allows a smooth transition from one symposium to the next.
