Synovial cyst

A synovial cyst is a fluid-filled sac having a synovial lining membrane in the spine.

see Juxtafacet cyst.

Synovial cysts in the spine occur predominantly in the lumbar as compared to thoracic and cervical areas 1).

see Lumbar synovial cyst

see Cervical synovial cyst

see Sacral synovial cyst

Ganglion cyst.

The distinction between the two may be difficult 2) possibly owing in part the fact that fibroblasts in ganglion cysts may form an incomplete synovial-like lining 3).
