Spontaneous intracerebral lobar hemorrhage etiology
Although many causes of intracerebral hemorrhage can produce lobar hemorrhages, those that are more likely to produce lobar hemorrhages include:
1. extension of a deep hemorrhage
2. cerebral amyloid angiopathy: the most common cause of lobar ICH in elderly normotensive patients
3. trauma
4. hemorrhagic transformation of an ischemic infarct
5. hemorrhagic tumor. Multiple lobar hemorrhages may occur with metastases
6. cerebrovascular malformation (especially AVM)
7. rupture of an aneurysm
8. idiopathic
