Soda lime is a mixture of NaOH & CaO chemicals, used in granular form in closed breathing environments, such as general anesthesia, submarines, rebreathers, and recompression chambers, to remove carbon dioxide from breathing gases to prevent CO2 retention and carbon dioxide poisoning.
