Dr. Hervey-Jumper specializes in the surgical treatment of adult brain tumors. His fellowship training in neurosurgical oncology focused on brain mapping techniques and surgery for removing tumors in eloquent cortex. His research interests include neurocognitive mapping, strategies to promote neural plasticity and recovery, and tools to improve patients’ quality of life. He is also interested in developing techniques to improve safety during awake brain tumor surgery.

During neurosurgical residency at the University of Michigan, Dr. Hervey-Jumper completed a neuro-oncology research fellowship in the Crosby Neurosurgery Laboratory studying ways to slow the growth of malignant brain tumors. His research was recognized with the prestigious Wilder Penfield Award from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, as well as a research fellowship granted by the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation/American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
