Prophylactic antibiotics for cerebrospinal fluid fistula

Prophylactic antibiotics are controversial. There was no difference in the incidence of morbidity of meningitis between treated and untreated patients 1).

Furthermore, the risk of selecting resistant strains appears real 2) and is therefore usually avoided.
