🧠 Postoperative Imaging After Ventricular Catheter Placement
✅ 1. Non-Contrast Head CT (immediate post-op, within 24 hours) Purpose:
Confirm catheter placement within the ventricular system.
Evaluate for complications: ▸ Intracranial hemorrhage (intraventricular, intraparenchymal, subdural). ▸ Pneumocephalus. ▸ Malposition (e.g., catheter tip in brain parenchyma or outside ventricle).
Assessment Criteria:
Catheter tip ideally placed in the frontal horn of the lateral ventricle, near the foramen of Monro.
Check midline shift, ventricular size, and pericatheter hemorrhage.
