Posterior communicating artery aneurysm endovascular treatment
The endovascular technique is a safe and highly efficient alternative to surgical clipping for PcomA aneurysms with oculomotor nerve palsy (ONP) 1).
For the true posterior communicating artery aneurysm it is a safe and feasible procedure but may be associated with aneurysm recurrence in midterm follow-up, requiring close surveillance and potential retreatment 2).
Also in the presence of fetal posterior communicating artery using multiple strategies 3).
However, patients who present with severe SAH still have an overall poor prognosis. Partial coiling of the aneurysm and the parent artery is an attractive alternative treatment for patients who may not tolerate parent artery occlusion. Further study with a larger case series is necessary for validation of the durability and efficacy of this treatment 4).
