Doesn’t operate on anatomy — operates on alliances.

This neurosurgeon isn't here to heal. He’s here to position. Every decision is weighed not in risk-benefit — but in political fallout. Every handshake is strategic. Every silence is calculated. Every resident is a pawn.

He knows who’s watching. He knows who to flatter. He knows when to show up — and when to vanish. He performs just enough surgery to remain untouchable, but avoids anything that might expose limits or trigger blame.

He doesn't say what he thinks. He says what will echo best.

He doesn’t care if the patient improves — as long as his standing does. Colleagues are not teammates. They’re competitors. Or stepping stones.

Where does it come from? A deep belief that clinical excellence is no longer the currency that matters. He has seen too many good surgeons passed over, too many bad ones promoted. So he plays the real game: survival by strategy.

He’s not the worst technician. But he is the most calculating.

What are the consequences? The department becomes a chessboard. Promotions reward loyalty, not competence. Ideas are hoarded or stolen. Decisions are delayed, data is massaged, and difficult conversations are postponed indefinitely — until the problem becomes someone else’s.

The OR becomes a stage for personal advancement — not patient care.
