It was launched in 2008 by two Swedish neurosurgeons, Dr. Steen Fridriksson and Dr. Thomas Skoglund. The main concept of the project is to promote networking between neurosurgeons and others with an interest in neurosurgery, to help members stay updated on various neurosurgical issues, and to provide a spectrum of useful resources for the busy neurosurgical clinician as well as the neurosurgical trainee.

The site´s content is both editorial and user generated, and as our member list continue to grow, hopefully the user content will grow in equal proportion. In addition to our Home section, the site´s main sections are Community, Updates, Resources and Education. More sections are in the planning stage and will be launched soon. Members will be able to contribute to various categories in each of the main sections - by blog entries or forum postings in the Community section, by submitting news or calendar events in the Updates section, by submitting new weblinks or useful information in the Resources section, or by contributing to the Education section with new questions in the self-assessment category.

NEUROSURGIC is currently supported by its founders (Dr. Fridriksson and Dr. Skoglund) and with funds from European Union (European Regional Development Fund).

NEUROSURGIC accepts advertising and sponsorship according to the following principles: All advertisements are subject to approval of NEUROSURGIC, which reserves the right to reject or cancel any advertisement at any time.
