The addition of Neurosurgery Open will provide authors with a NEUROSURGERY Publications venue for publication that will enable them to satisfy funding requirements around publication. Funders are increasingly expressing a preference, and in some cases mandating that authors publish papers in dedicated Open Access journals; some funders (eg, The Research Council of Norway and FWF Austria Science) require publication through fully OA journals like PLOS One (PLOS) and BMC Neurology (BioMed Central).
