Lateral occipital approach
Lateral occipital approach
Lateral occipital lobectomy can reduce the degree of cerebral retraction, although the vascular pedicles may not be easily accessible.
When the brain surface is incised near the angular gyrus, it can result in homonymous hemianopsia or alexia.
Use of this approach is limited to avascular tumors and patients with homonymous hemianopsia caused by relatively large tumors
