The entire length of lower cranial neurinomas including intracranial, jugular fossa, and extracranial components was identified to be entirely “interdural” in nature. The “dural” layer covered the tumor circumferentially and was in continuity over all the three components (intracranial, jugular fossa and extracranial cervical) of the tumor. As the tumor was located between the layers of dura, the location was termed “interdural.” This layer has been named “dura” irrespective of the location of the tumor in the intracranial compartment, jugular fossa, or cervical region.
