Professor Feridun Acar was born in Izmir, Turkey. He has studied medicine at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey and did his neurosurgery residency at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey. He has completed his stereotactic and functional neurosurgery fellowship at OHSU, Portland Oregon, USA. He has established the functional neurosurgery unit at Pamukkale University, Denizli, Turkey in 2005. He has been a faculty at Pamukkale University since 2004 and running the chair of the department since 2012. He has more than 60 peer reviewed publications mostly on functional neurosurgery. He is a member of Turkish Neurological Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Society of University Neurosurgeons, European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. He is a reviewer of Turkish Neurosurgery journal and Neurological Research. He is stil working as the general secretary of Turkish Neurosurgical Society and vice-president of International Basic Neurosurgery Course. Dr. Acar is married and has a son and a daughter.
