Devitalized tissue
Devitalized tissue refers to tissue that is no longer living or functional, such as necrotic tissue or gangrene. Debridement of devitalized tissue is a surgical procedure that involves removing this tissue from a wound in order to prevent the spread of infection and promote healing. It is typically performed by a surgeon or wound care specialist using surgical instruments such as scissors, scalpel, or a debriding enzyme. The procedure can be done in an inpatient or outpatient setting depending on the severity of the wound.
