Cell cycle progression is a highly regulated process orchestrated by numerous checks and balances to ensure that division and proliferation is a favored outcome. Progression is mediated by cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and their partner cyclins. Each pair is associated with a certain phase of cell cycle.
