Antidote

A drug, that acts against the bad effects of a poison to limit the harm it can do: an antidote for snake venom. fig. An antidote is also a way of preventing or acting against something bad: Exercise can be an antidote to depression.


Andexanet alfa, an antidote for the anticoagulant medications rivaroxaban and apixaban, is used in cases of uncontrolled bleeding requiring rapid reversal of anticoagulation. This decoy molecule neutralizes the anticoagulant effects of these medications by binding to them in the bloodstream.
