Acrylic cage
The use of acrylic cage is associated with good clinical and radiological outcomes and it can be therefore a good substitute for bone graft and other cages in Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) 1).
In a experimental pilot study using an acrylic interbody cage in a dog cervical spine fusion model, the acrylic cage showed significantly higher mechanical stiffness and less subsidence than bone grafting. Additional studies with more subjects and longer follow-up periods are needed to compare the cost effectiveness of acrylic cages and polyetheretherketone devices 2)
