Phase 3 randomized controlled trial

Generally large trials (i.e., many study participants) designed to “confirm” efficacy of an intervention. They are sometimes called “confirmatory trials” or “registration trials” in the context of pharmaceutical development.

Phase III: The drug or treatment is given to large groups of people to confirm its effectiveness, monitor side effects, compare it to commonly used treatments, and collect information that will allow the drug or treatment to be used safely.

A multicenter research trial is a clinical trial conducted at more than one medical center or clinic. Most large clinical trials, particularly phase 3 randomized controlled trial, are conducted at several clinical research centers.
