Vacuum-assisted closure

Compared with the use of the standard dressing, Vacuum-assisted closure was found to decrease surgical site infection and return to OR risk in trauma patients undergoing Posterior Spinal Fusions 1).

Vacuum-assisted closure therapy applied directly to the dura or cortical brain is a safe and effective technique for short-term wound temporization in the setting of indeterminate oncologic margins or active infection 2).
