Pemetrexed

see Pemetrexed for non-Small-cell lung cancer

Pemetrexed is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat several types of cancer, including non-small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma, and certain types of metastatic cancer. It works by interfering with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.

Pemetrexed is typically administered intravenously and is often given in combination with other chemotherapy drugs. Common side effects of pemetrexed can include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and low blood cell counts.

Before treatment with pemetrexed, patients may undergo testing to determine if they have a specific genetic mutation that may impact their response to the drug. Additionally, patients may be given folic acid and vitamin B12 supplements to help reduce the risk of certain side effects.

As with all chemotherapy drugs, pemetrexed can have significant side effects and risks, and should only be used under the close supervision of a qualified healthcare provider.
