Pediatric diffuse astrocytoma

In pediatric diffuse astrocytomas (age < 20 years), most of the molecular markers differ from their adult counterparts: IDH mutations and TP53 & ATRX mutations are not present, and mutation of H3K27M can occur as in high-grade pediatric gliomas. Markers are also dependent on tumor location. Unlike their adult counterpart, these tumors rarely undergo malignant degeneration 1)
