Lordosis

When abnormalities of the spine occur, the natural curvatures of the spine are misaligned or exaggerated in certain areas, as occurs with lordosis, kyphosis.

The lordotic nature of the cervical spine and lumbar spine allows the imaginary line of gravity to run through, allowing them to bear most of the weight of the of the axial skeleton as compared to the thoracic spine and sacral spine. Consequently, they are subject to a higher percentage of disc degeneration and subsequent discogenic pain syndrome 1).
