neurologic involvement
a) in children:hyperactivity,low IQ,encephalopathy(the adult brain is relatively resistant)
b) peripheral neuropathy: essentially only occurs in industrial exposure. Findings: purely motor (unusual in toxic neuropathies which are usually length-dependent, sensory, and involve the feet first), primarily weakness of ankle dorsiflexion (producing wrist drop) and finger extensors. Lower extremity involvement is less common and is usually confined to the weakness of foot dorsiflexion (foot drop) and toe extension
