Klebsiella pneumoniae

Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacteria, nonmotile, encapsulated, lactose-fermenting, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium.

Can cause meningitis, ventriculitis after endoscopic third ventriculostomy, ventriculoperitoneal shunt infection.


Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) ventriculitis refers to an infection of the ventricles of the brain caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria that are resistant to carbapenem antibiotics.
