Intradural disc herniation (IDH) was first reported by Walter Edward Dandy in 1942.
Intradural herniation of intervertebral disk comprises 0.26–0.30% of all disk herniations.
Ninety-two percent of all IDH occur in the lumbar region, with only 5% occurring in the thoracic region followed by 3% in the cervical region.
