Founded in 1931 as the Harvey Cushing Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is a scientific and educational association.
At the 12th Annual Meeting of the Harvey Cushing Society, held in New York City in 1943, the Journal of Neurosurgery was formed.
The Harvey Cushing Society is now the AANS.
