Professor of otolaryngology and neurological surgery, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Co-director of the Center for Cranial Base Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Dr. Snyderman and his colleagues, Dr. Amin Kassam and Dr. Ricardo Carrau, were involved with the development of the Extended Endonasal Transplanum Approach (EEA), which represents an entirely new paradigm to remove complex lesions of the skull base and brain without incisions.
Dr. Snyderman’s other clinical interests include cranial base surgery, oncologic head and neck surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery and outcomes research in cranial base surgery and the role of nutrition in head and neck cancer.
He is a past recipient of the Clinical Oncology Career Development Award from the American Cancer Society for his study of tumor immunology and a FIRST Award from the National Institutes of Health for his study of the role of prostaglandins in head and neck cancer.
Dr. Snyderman is president of the southwestern Pennsylvania chapter of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the Skull Base Committee and the Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology Committee, both of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and has presented at more than 450 local, national and international scientific lectures and meetings.
He received his medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago, completed a surgical internship at Western Pennsylvania Hospital and finished his otolaryngology residency and cranial base surgery fellowship at the Eye and Ear Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh.
