Anterior sacral meningocele classification

(A) Type I, caudal type: the herniated sac is extending from the defect of the caudal sacrum. The last sacral nerves may be located above the pedicle of communication. (B) Type II, para-neural type: the meningocele is herniating into the pelvic cavity via enlarged anterior sacral foramina without nerves being involved; however, the meningocele could compress the nerves. (C) Type III, Nerve-root Type: The ostium is larger or more extensive, is formed by several sacral foramina, and the sacral nerves are involved and transverse in the sac. Furthermore, only one capsuled nerve root is rare in this type 1).
