====== Tonic stimulation ====== Tonic [[stimulation]] provides a consistent stream of [[pulse]]s at a set [[frequency]], [[pulse width]], and amplitude. [[Burst stimulation]] delivers groups of pulses at a lower amplitude and a higher frequency than tonic stimulation. Bursts of pulses are followed by pulse-free periods during which charge balance occurs. ---- Tonic stimulation, isolated or in combination, remains an important component in [[spinal cord stimulation]], being used by almost half of the patients. Over time, the usage of microburst increased considerably. Whisper and Contour, although battery-consuming, are good salvage options in complex cases ((S PG, S G, J SP, J V.
