====== Telomerase Activation ====== An enzyme called [[telomerase]] can slow, stop or even reverse the telomere shortening that happens as we age. Exposing human cells to telomerase slows cell aging and allows cells to begin copying again ---- In [[glioma]]s, [[TERT]] expression and TERT promoter mutation are considered to reliably indicate [[telomerase activation]], while [[ATRX]] mutation and/or loss indicates an [[alternative lengthening of telomeres]] (ALT). However, these relationships have not been extensively validated in tumor tissues.
