For a combined supra- infratentorial [[posterior transpetrosal approach]] the [[incision]] should expose a large part of the lateral aspect of the [[temporal bone]] and, partially, the sub[[occipital bone]]s. This is why we use a [[question mark incision]] starting three fingers above the [[zygomatic process]], moving posterosuperiorly and posteroinferiorly surrounding in a semicircular fashion the [[pinna]], descending until two fingers below and behind the mastoid tip.
