Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene with numerous applications. The best-known brand name of PTFE-based formulas is [[Teflon]]™ by Chemours. Chemours is a spin-off of DuPont, which initially discovered the compound in [[1938]].
