====== Peripheral neuropathy etiology ====== [[Diabetic neuropathy]] [[Entrapment neuropathy]]. Common causes include systemic diseases (such as [[diabetes]] or leprosy), vitamin deficiency, [[medication]] (e.g., chemotherapy), traumatic injury, [[radiation therapy]], excessive alcohol consumption, immune system disease, Coeliac disease, or viral infection. It can also be genetic (present from birth) or idiopathic (no known cause). [[Dyslipidemia]] is an independent risk factor for the development of neuropathy. In addition, [[oxidative stress]] and inflammatory response may play an important role in the [[pathogenesis]] of high-fat diet-induced neuropathy ((Ozay R, Uzar E, Aktas A, Uyar ME, Gürer B, Evliyaoglu O, Cetinalp NE, Prof CT.
