They are benign, slow-growing [[lesion]]s, that occur commonly in the [[cranial vault]], [[mastoid]] and paranasal [[air sinus]]es, and the [[mandible]]. Lesions within air sinuses may present as recurrent [[sinusitis]]. More common in [[female]]s, the highest [[incidence]] is in the 6th decade. ---- Triad of [[Gardner's syndrome]]: multiple cranial osteomas (of the calvaria, sinuses, and mandible), colonic polyposis, and soft-tissue tumors. Typically, it shows a very hyperdense osseous lesion on [[computed tomography]] (CT) scan and low-intensity change on [[T2]]-weighted image on [[magnetic resonance imaging]] (MRI). see [[Osteoid osteoma]]. see [[Intracranial osteoma]]. [[Paranasal sinus osteoma]] ([[Frontal sinus osteoma]]) ===== Pathology ===== Consists of osteoid tissue within osteoblastic tissue, surrounded by reactive bone. Difficult to distinguish from [[fibrous dysplasia]]. ===== Differential diagnosis ===== Localized increased density or hyperostosis of the calvaria.
