NORAD (non-coding RNA activated by DNA damage) is a lncRNA that is involved in the regulation of the cell cycle and DNA repair. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of a protein called PUMILIO, which is a key regulator of cell division. Inhibition of PUMILIO by NORAD allows for the proper progression of the cell cycle and ensures that damaged DNA is repaired before cell division occurs. NORAD has also been implicated in the regulation of gene expression, and mutations in NORAD have been linked to certain types of cancer.
