====== NADH ====== [[NADH]] stands for "[[nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide]] (NAD) + hydrogen (H)." It occurs naturally in the body and plays a role in generating energy. The NADH produced by the body is involved in making energy in the body. Taking NADH supplements might affect blood pressure and have other effects. ---- Mutations in [[isocitrate dehydrogenase]] ([[IDH]]) 1 & 2 genes reduce the enzymatic capacity of their coded [[protein]]s to bind their [[substrate]], [[isocitrate]], and convert it into α-ketoglutarate (α-KG), generating [[carbon dioxide]] and replenishing [[NADH]] and [[NADPH]] as side products ((Yen KE, Bittinger MA, Su SM, Fantin VR.
