====== Myopathy ====== Myopathy is a general term referring to any disease that affects the [[muscle]]s that control voluntary movement in the body. Patients experience [[muscle weakness]] due to a dysfunction of the muscle fibers. ---- statin-induced myopathy: can vary from mild (with symptoms of muscle aches, symptoms usu- ally abate rapidly after discontinuation of the statin, although occasionally up to 2 months may be required) to severe (with rhabdomyolysis which can → nephropathy) critical illness myopathy: Muscles not excitable with direct stimulation. EMG: low or normal CMAP with a normal SNAP.
