=====Michael Sughrue===== Neurosurgeon native from Oklahoma who attended his undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma. After training at several world renowned brain tumor centers, he returned to Oklahoma to provide world class care to Oklahomans with complex brain tumors. He was a founding member and is current director of the Comprehensive Brain Tumor Center at OU. Dr. Sughrue's practice focuses entirely on adult brain tumors, and he performs nearly 400 brain tumor operations per year. His specific interests include removal of gliomas from critical brain regions such as speech and motor parts of the brain, skull base surgery, keyhole brain surgery, endonasal endoscopic skull base surgery, and acoustic neuroma surgery. Dr Sughrue has published over 140 publications in the scientific literature, and has co-edited several text books. He is an innovator in minimally invasive brain tumor surgery, and has taught courses to neurosurgeons all over the world about how to perform these operations. In addition, using advanced language mapping techniques, he is often able to successfully remove many brain tumors deemed inoperable at other centers. The language mapping effort he established at OU is one of the busiest awake brain surgery programs in the United States, performing several awake brain surgeries a month. Dr. Sughrue attended medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, graduating Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of California, San Francisco, before completing a fellowship in Minimally invasive neurosurgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He joined the Faculty at the University of Oklahoma in January 2012.
