====== Mastoid ======

The mastoid process is a conical prominence projecting from the undersurface of the mastoid portion of the [[temporal bone]]. It is located just behind the [[external acoustic meatus]], and lateral to the styloid process.

The mastoid part represents the entry point to perform a posterior petrosectomy as well as the extended and combined varieties. 

It is separated from the sub[[occipital bone]] posteriorly through the occipitomastoid suture; superiorly from the parietal and bone and squamous part through the parietomastoid suture and supramastoid crest
respectively; and anteriorly it is connected with the [[external auditory canal]] through
the [[spine of Henle]].
