In [[1950]], working in [[Johannesburg]], [[South Africa]], Krynauw reported on 12 patients with [[infantile hemiplegia]] who underwent [[hemispherectomy]]; seizure control was achieved in 10 of these patients, with improvement in function and behavior ((Krynauw RA: Infantile hemiplegia treated by removing one cerebral hemisphere.
