[[Polymyalgia]] rheumatica (PMR) and [[giant cell arteritis]] (GCA) may be different points on a continuum of the same disease.
Both have an increased frequency of [[HLA-DR4]] and systemic monocyte activation. 15% of
patients with PMR eventually develop GCA.
