=====GPR101===== Probable G-protein coupled receptor 101 is a [[protein]] that in humans is encoded by the GPR101 [[gene]]. G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs, or GPRs) contain 7 transmembrane domains and transduce extracellular signals through heterotrimeric G proteins. A duplication event in GPR101 is implicated in cases of [[gigantism]] and [[acromegaly]]. Germline GPR101 mutations are very rare in patients with sporadic [[pituitary neuroendocrine tumor]]s of various histotypes. No digenism with AIP was identified. Further studies are required to establish whether and how genetic variation in GPR101 gene contributes to pituitary [[tumorigenesis]] ((Lecoq AL, Bouligand J, Hage M, Cazabat L, Salenave S, Linglart A, Young J, Guiochon-Mantel A, Chanson P, Kamenicky P. Very low frequency of germline GPR101 genetic variation and no biallelic defects with AIP in a large cohort of patients with sporadic pituitary neuroendocrine tumors.
