[[Descending transtentorial herniation]], more frequently known as [[uncal herniation]]. Descending [[transtentorial herniation]] (DTH) is the second most common type of cerebral hernia. It occurs when brain tissue is displaced downward through the [[tentorial notch]]. DTH may be divided into two types: lateral (anterior and posterior) and central hernias. Lateral hernias involve the medial temporal lobe.
