Cryptococcus is an invasive fungus that causes [[cryptococcosis]] an infection commonly associated with immunosuppressive individuals while being rare in healthy individuals. The two species of Cryptococcus that are commonly associated with infections in humans are [[Cryptococcus neoformans]] and [[Cryptococcus gattii]].
