An arterial line, is a thin catheter inserted into an artery. It is most commonly used in [[neurocritical care]] and [[neuroanesthesia]] to monitor the [[blood pressure]] real-time (rather than by intermittent measurement), and to obtain samples for arterial blood gas measurements.
