A [[drug]], that acts against the bad effects of a poison to limit the harm it can do: an antidote for snake venom. fig. An antidote is also a way of preventing or acting against something bad: Exercise can be an antidote to depression.

[[Andexanet]] alfa, an [[antidote]] for the [[anticoagulant]] medications [[rivaroxaban]] and [[apixaban]], is used in cases of uncontrolled bleeding requiring rapid reversal of anticoagulation. This decoy molecule neutralizes the anticoagulant effects of these medications by binding to them in the bloodstream.
