In the majority of cases, the method of treatment is [[percutaneous vertebroplasty]] (PV) or [[kyphoplasty]] (PK). The [[transpedicular approach]] in [[percutaneous vertebroplasty]] (PVP) is a well-established approach for the treatment of [[vertebral compression fracture]]s (VCFs). VCFs harbored 1.11% of unexpected malignancy. During the vertebroplasty, concomitant transpedicular vertebral biopsy is a safe and useful procedure for distinguishing non-malignant from malignant compression fractures, especially in diagnosing unsuspected malignancy ((Chou KN, Lin BJ, Chien LY, Tsai WC, Ma HI, Hueng DY. Simple transpedicular vertebral biopsy for diagnosis of malignancy in vertebral compression fracture. Neurol India. 2013 Nov-Dec;61(6):587-92. doi: 10.4103/0028-3886.125249. PubMed PMID: 24441324.)). [[Vertebroplasty]] for medically refractory vertebral [[compression fracture]]s (VCF) may offer sustained improvement in pain and function. The procedure is associated with low morbidity and mortality ((Mukherjee S, Yeh J, Ellamushi H. Pain and functional outcomes following vertebroplasty for vertebral compression fractures - A tertiary centre experience. Br J Neurosurg. 2015 Oct 20:1-7. [Epub ahead of print] PubMed PMID: 26485360. )). vertebral_compression_fracture_treatment.txt Last modified: 2024/06/07 02:54by 127.0.0.1
