This heterogeneity can arise due to various factors, including genetic [[mutation]]s, [[epigenetic]] changes, and [[environment]]al factors. The presence of tumor-antigen heterogeneity can present a challenge for the development of effective [[cancer immunotherapy]], which aim to harness the [[immune system]] to attack [[cancer cell]]s. This is because not all cancer cells may express the same antigens, and the immune system may not recognize all the tumor cells as foreign. One approach to overcoming tumor-antigen heterogeneity is to target multiple antigens simultaneously.
